final op-ed
One argument people have is “women have the right to privacy.” While this is true, that we have a “right” to privacy that doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want. For example even if you are in the privacy of your home, abusing your child is still wrong, or selling illegal drugs in your home is wrong. You do not have the right to kill a living human being because you have the right to privacy.
One of the most popular arguments pro-choice people bring up is that a preborn baby is not a human being, that it is just a part of the women’s body. Well this is most defiantly not the case! Basic biology begs to differ with their argument. Biology says that an embryo/ fetus are indeed a human. If the baby is not a living human, why does a doctor who’s treating a pregnant woman have two patients? If the preborn are not human, why do 37 states and the federal government have laws charging two counts of murder when a pregnant woman and her baby are killed?
One other point that has been made is that abortion should be legal for those who are raped because it’s not their fault that they are pregnant. Yes, rape is a terrible thing but should a child pay the price for poor choices their father made? If the woman does not want a baby because of how he/she was conceived than there is the option of adoption.
Many people ask the question, “Well if the government made abortion illegal would the women who does have one be arrested?” A lot of people would answer no, because the woman has gone through enough pain. However my answer would be yes, she should. If we put murderers in jail than shouldn’t we treat abortion, the death of a preborn HUMAN, as a murder?
The child should not have to pay for the choices the parents or parent (in the case of rape) made. I believe that Abortion is entirely wrong.

Another point that is made is that abortion should be allowed when a woman is sexually assaulted. Yes, rape is a terrible thing but should a child pay the price for poor choices their father made? finished feature story
Myspace is really spreading the word about amazing bands. One of my favorite bands Children 18:3 was found on Myspace and signed to a record deal because of their circulation. Never Shout Never! has appeared on MTV and their music video is being played on MTV’s music countdowns. He said “If it weren’t for Myspace and my amazing fans I would not have made it this far.” The only reason he made it to the video countdown was because of the overwhelming amount of votes he got on the online contest. The people who voted for him were the fans who have found him on Myspace.
Christofer never expected to get this popular. During high school he recorded his own music on the side and put it up but he never thought people would really listen to it. He said he was kind of a loner in high school, which is very surprising when you meet him; he’s a very lovable and outgoing kid. Since he felt like he didn’t fit in he decided to quit school to pursue his music.
One day when I was sitting in my photography class telling my friends about Never Shout Never! A girl in my class, Sara Hurt, yelled that she loves them. I was extremely surprised; I didn’t think anyone would have heard of them. She heard of them through Myspace. She likes that not that many people know about them, she kind of likes obscure bands. That’s what I like most about Never Shout Never!.
I never listen to the popular bands; it makes the music seem more real when they aren’t in the public eye. Myspace helps a lot with that. I can easily find obscure bands through Myspace. If you like one band all you have to do it look at their friends where there are usually bands that have a similar sound to them. The recent growth of music is because of sites like Myspace that let simple garage bands get discovered.

1. What are some areas that could use more detail? Why? the lead, put yourself in it, what does your story have to do with you?
2. What additional sources might the author use? Does the lead involve you in the story? the lead doesn't include you, say something about activities that you are involved in.
3. Do the first 450 words contain a well defined scene (a detailed description of someone doing something or something happening)? What is it? If not, make a suggestion for a scene that might work. Put a scene into your story, it's pretty factual.
4. What questions would you like answered in the next 300 words? What would you like to see or hear more of? Less of? Include, any other suggestions you have for improvement. i like your story overall, it's super well written the only suggestion i have is to put yourself into the story. other than that it's very good!

final story
It was an extremely fun event. Tylen Ro, a solo singer at the sing-a-thon, said “It was fun to get out there and sing in front of everyone while helping a good cause. It was something different; it was a different way to raise money while we used our singing talent for something good.”
Not only were the singers using their talents but so was the tech crew for the event. The tech crew gave up their whole day to run this event. They ran the lights and sound for the day. Ernie Russel mentioned that she enjoyed getting out of class to do something worthwhile.
Announcer, Brooke Kilgarriff, used this event not only to raise money for Cancer affected families, but also to help her platform from the Miss America Organization. She asked everyone to sign a petition to keep music education in schools. She said “Music has been such a big part of my life that I want to make sure every kid gets the same opportunity I did with music.” So many people helped out with this event to make it what it was. And they should be proud; it was a rather amazing event to attend thanks to the helpers and singers. This event was a huge success and raise quite bit money for those one have loved ones with cancer.

It all started with the idea of helping out family members of those who have cancer. Cancer affects many families each year and the choir department wanted to find a way they could use their talents to help them out. They decided on hosting a sing-athon to raise money.
