There have been so many debates about abortion, if it should be illegal or not; and the debate about if it is made illegal should the woman be arrested if she has an abortion? I personally think that abortion is very, very wrong. While I understand where people who support it are coming from I have quite a few arguments against their claims.
One argument people have is “women have the right to privacy.” While this is true, that we have a “right” to privacy that doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want. For example even if you are in the privacy of your home, abusing your child is still wrong, or selling illegal drugs in your home is wrong. You do not have the right to kill a living human being because you have the right to privacy.
One of the most popular arguments pro-choice people bring up is that a preborn baby is not a human being, that it is just a part of the women’s body. Well this is most defiantly not the case! Basic biology begs to differ with their argument. Biology says that an embryo/ fetus is indeed a human. If the baby is not a living human, why does a doctor who’s treating a pregnant woman have two patients? If the preborn are not human, why do 37 states and the federal government have laws charging two counts of murder when a pregnant woman and her baby are killed?
Another point that is made is that abortion should be allowed when a woman is sexually assaulted. Yes, rape is a terrible thing but should a child pay the price for poor choices their father made? If the woman does not want a baby because of how he/she was conceived than there is the option of adoption.
Many people ask the question, “well if the government made abortion illegal would the women who does have one be arrested?” A lot of people would answer no, because the woman has gone through enough pain. However my answer would be yes, she should. If we put murderers in jail than shouldn’t we treat abortion, the death of a preborn HUMAN, as a murder?
The child should not have to pay for the choices the parents or parent (in the case of rape) made. I believe that abortion is entirely wrong.
